This beautiful estate belongs to Canadian Billionaire Paul Desmarais. Paul, who is a financier, was worth some $4 billion back in 2008. The estate, which is dubbed Sagard, is located in the Charlevoix area of Quebec, Canada. He also owns homes in Palm Beach and New York.

    The location is MARVELOUS.

    The landscaping is INCREDIBLE.

The yellow exterior is not my style, but if the interior is warm, elegant and classy, I don’t see any problem.

Excellent post.Only in this site I have seen posts like this.Kenny your real estate blog is the BEST BY FAR!!!

Stunning. This is what a world-class palace looks like. Too bad there aren’t any interior photos, though I’m sure it looks something along the lines of Versailles.

Any idea which Palm Beach home is his? My guess is 1600 S. Ocean Blvd. The house looks exactly like a scaled-down version of this palace, and is one of my favorite homes in the town. The owner is listed as “Ninety 9798 Canada Inc.”

The house is beautiful, it’s the while package. But there is one problem, today in upstate NY at 7AM I took my dog for a walk. It was minus 10 degrees. God only knows what it was in Canada. I think it’s time for all of us to visit Daniel in south Florida.

Andrea Palladio would be very proud. I can’t stand the yellow exterior, but I love the rest. The formal gardens are beautiful. It has hints of Villa Pisani, which is one of my all-time favorites.

This home is pure class. That nighttime picture is gorgeous.
Take note multimillionaires of the world… this is what you should be striving for in a mansion!

Wow, this is super, mega, power balling status.
Absolutely gorgeous on a phenomenal location.

Is that a church in photo # 3?
I’m not a big fan of this house because it doesn’t look like a home.
It would capture my imagination more if it were a reception centre or something like that.

Love this house. Love the yellow color. Hearkens back to the architecture of the Tsars. Will look brilliant in snow. The setting is fantastic. You seldom see this kind of house in a northern wilderness setting. The secondary building is in perfect proportion to the main building. Agree with Venom. This is how a billionaire should build and live. This house will become a landmark.

I’m surprised no one has mentioned the formal gardens. They obviously sit atop a garage for 100 or more cars.

a big yellow, mostly boring elephant in the middle of a wonderful part of nature. it looks like a stranger in this location considering the style of the mansion. the formal gardens don`t impress me, look really boring, no detail, too low, too bare.it doesn`t look very inviting to live in. it`s not a home, it looks like an official building deep in the woods. this mansion has no character at all.

M Desmarais is clearly a fan of 19th century or earlier Russian architecture and this home reflects it. Personally, I think this is among the most beautiful houses posted here. Absolutely grand and in its relatively remote location, it harks back to a kinder, gentler era than today’s fast and ultra competitive ones. I wonder who the architect was and who the civil engineer – they might have other masterpieces hidden away elsewhere . . .

Kenny, the article sounds like a hit piece on Desmarais. Can’t help wonder if whoever wrote it was jealous of the man’s success. 🙂

    Roger Nolet

Uh, Roger, I don;t think Mr. Desmerais comes to this website. It’s for fans of expensive houses.

Most of the commenters here would love the Brussels palace. That one left 10 million or so dead in the congo. This one only impoverished and left some homeless locally and maybe starved a few hundred thousand on the African continent.
And some say ISIS is bad..
    Go figure
