Pricey as s**t! This has *just* dawned on me, but is French architecture the norm in Texas as Mediterranean is in South Florida?

Looks nice, but I’d rather have the antebellum home next door.

this house is not even halfway complete and the owner’s have hoisted it on to the market. I guess the cost has gotten to high for them to stomach. the entire facade is clad in honed limestone and the enormous roof is all slate. it’ll be truly palatial when built and the landscape architects they hired are talented at creating beautiful grounds. the library is going to be double height and the master is a third the bottom level of the house. the interior is set of by a rotunda entry with a wrought iro staircase that encircles it and the kitchen ceiling will have an amazing gothic vaulted groin vaults. the neighborhood it is in is very quiet and gracious- Bluffview- and is filled with eclectic style homes from a recently compledted tudor manor all the way down to Texas rustic modern. I’d say the majority of the large house being built are in the english style – but yes, the other is very popular in Dallas and Houston as well.

To hear that it’s being built with real limestone facing and a true slate tile roof warms my heart. So many new houses use cheaper materials that are designed to give the look of the real thing, but rarely do. I’m not familiar with this part of Dallas. It looks as if there are several large houses on large pieces of land, but that this one doesn’t get one of the larger lots. I would be curious to see it when it’s completed.

The front exterior seems pretty beautiful and it’s not completed yet…
