Well, this place is in a beautiful location with PLENTEEEE of room to roam, but the exterior of the house looks like it came from a FLOOR PLAN BOOK bought at HOME DEPOT :-(. Sorry, but it shouts “new build!” with no depth, contour or interesting wings/proportions or shapes in sight. The exterior color is too intense a mustard yellow (at least from what I can see in the pics). The interior is sufficiently nice for a house is this price range/locale, but it’s nothing immediately memorable either. The place looks like a mountain lodge (albeit a very nice one) to me, waiting for it’s guests rather than a welcoming, unique single family home.

I have to agree with Barney on his assessment. The exterior is too symmetrical for the style of house. Definitely some interesting development of different shaped wings, while keeping it balanced, would have made it a lot more interesting. I would like the interior if it had been more lodge-like. It just looks like a tract house on steroids. The stacked-stone fireplace does not go with the columns, wrought iron railings, marble floor, and twin staircases.

I rarely have a physical emotional reaction to a room but I have one with this kitchen: It’s. Just. Awful. The cabinets look rather cheap to begin with but then someone added that modern stainless exhaust hood to a country kitchen and it doesn’t fit at all. Tension created by dichotomous decorative elements can be stunning. This is just a mistake.

On the positive side, the amount of land, the equestrian facilities, and the location seem decent. Granted it’s not in the Hamptons, but if it were it would be 3 times the price.

Barney as a GP’er understands character.
G.P. is one of those places that has unparalleled character that cannot be bought nor duplicated.

This is a nice house on a nice piece of land, but he is completely right about it.

Weeeeeeellllllllllll, as the ONE AND ONLY Bugs Bunny said in one of his forever-classic Looney Toon’s (for which we all and the rest of the world are hugely better off for 🙂 “Thanks just ALLLLL to pieces!” (spoken in the voice of an pleasantly effusive Southern Belle) Really, thanks guys for your compliments……I’m flattered.

Ditto to all three…almost. I disagree that it screams new build…I think it screams built in 1985 but remodeled in 1995. Either way, it looks dated and just very cheap.

The ONLY saving grace is the fact that it has garages for 16 cars 😀

According to the listing, it was built in 2008. CERTAINLY does not look like it, but maybe it’s because of the cheapness of it all :/

Or my own, considering I am one 😀

Quite the contrary, as I have a nice list of “dream homes” that I would take in a heartbeat without ANY modifications (save for some colors or window treatments).

The 37 acres is nice, but the interior does not look like it belongs in a $9 million home.

I agree, although the exterior is very boring and WAY to symetrical.

Love that land. There is a ~10,000sqft home for sale in the NC mountains right now in the NC mountains with ~400 acres of land…time to setup a fiefdom with serfs to tend the fields. 🙂
