Al here,

I just came upon this home, and I am very impressed. For starters, the home can be found at 18181 Via Roswitha, Rancho Santa Fe, CA. It features 8 bedrooms, and at least 10 bathrooms. It has 15,487 Sq Ft on 9.35 Acres. This place has beautiful views of southern California, a guest house with a pool, a tennis court, a 15 car garage, and a bar.  The home in on the market for $21,000,000.

Here is some more information about the estate:

“Celebrating artistic traditions from near & far, this world class residence was 8yrs in the making. Balinese & Mediterranean influences were combined in the creation of this relevant masterpiece sited on 9.35 premium acres at the top of Rancho Santa Fe. Emphasizing form & light and designed by the late “Ted” Grenzbach, whose work has been featured 50+ times in Architectural Digest, this sophisticated estate, with 360 degree panoramic mountain, valley, and ocean views, offers both refuge and inspiration.”

Beautiful. Plus Rancho Santa Fe is one of the nicest places in the entire world – I would seriously LOVE to retire there one day

I love RSF, except that it gets too warm in the summer being away from the ocean. This is a beautiful house. I love the Asian-inspired theme. It looks very comfortable inside and out, and I really like how the indoor/outdoor spaces flow together.

Here is a list of everything I hate about this property:

-It is not owned by me
-It is not occupied by me
-It is owned and occupied by somebody less worthy than me

That aside, I love it! RSF does indeed have some of the nicest homes in the sense that I am constantly finding homes out there making the best use of the land they’re on. This is no exception. Great find Al!

You know, sometimes finding people who agree with me about my taste in homes is hard, but I love how you guys agree. You guys are certainly welcome for the post. I think that Rancho Santa Fe is absolutely one of the best places in the world to live, and someday, I would love be live there, that is of course, IF I could afford it.

As soon as I saw picture #4 I knew I knew this house.
This house has been for sale or at least was for sale at least 10 years ago and it was for sale for a long time even back then, years maybe.

It was in the DuPont Registry and Unique Homes way back then.
I probably still have the old issues with this house in them somewhere.

The guy that built this house was my real estate professor in college. We had a class party there in 2001 before he sold it. The main house is around 12,000 sf. which isn’t that huge but when it is all on one level it seems even bigger. The 15 car garage can actually hold 11 limosines. He bought the property from the guy that owned (or started) Churches Chicken. There was a 10,000 sf home on the property originally but he levelled it to build his dream home. The views are pretty sweat and the staff house is bigger than the average American home.

STUNNING, in EVERY way, shape & form! I could die HAPPY here, seriously. With views, space, weather & sunshine like that….are you kidding me? And PLUS, the house is GORGEOUS…..whomever had the brains & BIG cash to hire the interior designer(s) to complete the home was VERY smart. The place is done absolutely beautifully, and all the rooms in the photos look to be perfectly proportioned in relation to the furniture, space, art & window treatments. Truly a gorgeous home without (relatively) being ridiculously huge and unused, at least 75% of the time. Five stars!

At first I didn’t like this house because it reminded me of a clubhouse at a golf course, but after looking at the pics over and over it kind of grew on me, though I still don’t care for the clubhouse look 🙂
