My objection to this house has nothing to do with its size or cost. As a work of architecture, it is completely mediocre. "Versailles" - please! This house looks nothing like Versailles, or any other Louis XIV chateau I've ever seen. Stylistically, it is much closer to the Second Empire excesses of the Belle Epoque - think more along the lines of the Paris Opera House. Why anyone wouldn't take the time to consult a talented architect (and there are plenty of them out there who would love to have a commission like this) is beyond me. One only has to compare it to Fleur d'Lys to see the difference. This house looks like a teenager's idea of what a mansion should be. The floorplan makes absolutely no sense - where are the reception rooms, the drawing rooms, the library? Why do none of teh spaces connect or even relaet to each other? It really does resemble a mall, with the immense "ballroom" at the center and completely unconnected rooms at various corners. To the super wealthy patrons in America with the itch to build - please, please, please consult a reputable architect who understands design and planning before you waste your money on a monstrosity that has little or no historical or artistic value and will be torn down by the next generation that scratches its head in bewilderment!

I just have to say that this house when its finished will be very elegant looking, and thats what some people look for. Also, if you actually read whats in the house its a ROLLER SKATING RINK not an Ice Skating Rink, And there is a difference.

I think that, these people are commiting a deadlymortal sin by living in this luxury when the rest of the world, that means people who haven't enough to eat or to house themeselves. This kind of money perpertrates: avarice, superiority to the extreme, and total lack of caring for others.

The houses are indeed beatifull, but "the more you give the more blessings you will receive." Will those homes make you happy, will they make you have a happy relatioship with others?

Dont forget "you can't take it with you" to the final resting place, one fact to be sure of i that thend of our life is 100% sure to come.

[...] Versailles, Florida – The largest family home ever built in the US This 30 bedroom mansion boasts its own bowling alley, roller skating rink and Olympic sized swimming pool to make it the largest family home ever built in the US. Time share mogul David Siegel and his former beauty queen wife Jacqueline began building the huge estate three years ago. But with almost 18 months of work still to be carried out on the property they have put it on the market at $75m. Experts believe a further $25m needs to be spent before anyone can move in. As well as 30 bedrooms the home would have 23 bathrooms with spectacular views over Lake Butler, about 20 miles from Orlando. The hand-built windows for the house cost more than £2m and other luxuries include a ballroom and a children’s theatre. There is a garage with enough space for 20 cars, three swimming pools, a large boat house, formal gardens, and a one-story gatehouse with an apartment. There is also a baseball field, two tennis courts, a 60 foot by 120 foot Grand Hall with a 30-foot stained glass dome, two grand staircases, a 37 foot by 30 foot kitchen, 10 satellite kitchens, a two-story wine cellar and a rock grotto with three separate spas behind an 80-foot waterfall. All 23 full bathrooms have full-sized Jacuzzis, 160 tripled paned windows and Brazilian mahogany French-style doors that alone cost pds2.million. The property was called Versailles as the entrance was modeled after the Palace of Versailles in France. (Link 1 | Link 2) [...]

The drawings of the mansion look more Italian than French. Don't know if the actual mansion would turn out to be as classical as the picture renderings.

To put this all in perspective just compare this home and the asking price with a small condo just recently purchased by an elderly friend of mine. She is 80 and wanted to downsize so she bought a 1019 sq ft. condo. It cost her $1,150,000. Now look at this 90,000 sq ft house going for $100,000,000. Do you see what I'm getting at?
