One word….AMAZING!!! This has to be one of the nicest mansions ever built in the area. I had featured this home on Homes of the Rich a while back when it was first being built. It is located at 31521 Via Estelita in San Juan Capistrano, CA. The home, dubbed Chateau Le Grand, is newly built and is situated on almost 3 acres of property. The formal French motif was derived from the Four Seasons in Paris, France. It boasts over 16,500 square feet of living space with 5 master suites, 8 bathrooms, 7 kitchens, a wine room, a pub, theater, sun room, craft room, gift-wrapping room, commercial grade elevator, maids quarters, 4 car garage, 2 limo garages and much more. If you look at the pictures, you can also see that is has a 2-story hallway, which makes it feel much more spacious and grand. Overall, the rooms are large in size and I can’t wait to see what they will look like upon completion.

The home also features one of the coolest backyards ever! Perfect for grand entertaining. It boasts resort-style outdoor living areas that include a 75,000 gallon swimming pool, island spa, grotto, numerous pathways, a loggia, cabana, veranda, gazebo, vineyards, and a huge guest house. The estate also features a Porte cache, entry vehicle bridge over water features, and a 12-14′ exterior wall with two automatic gates. It isl  listed at $8,495,000. So, what do you guys think?!

  • If you just look at the bird’s eye views, and the look and shape of the house, you’d swear this home is in Cherry Hills Estates in Colorado, and not in San Juan Capistrano, CA. I can’t believe the home is only 16,500 square feet, because it looks bigger than that, but I have to say that it’s a pretty nice place. A bit too palace looking for the interior, but you could do quite a bit with this place.

haha I know, it looks exactly like a home that you would find in Cherry Hills Village. Yeah, I’m guessing the correct square footage is 20,000 or so with everything factored in.

For what it is and considering it’s in California, it’s one heck of a deal. If Candy Spelling lived there and Prince Charles slept over, it would be at least $100,000,000.00 more.

I forgot to include “if Paris Hilton’s father Rick had the listing”

Way too big for the neighborhood it is in.
    Ridiculously so.
It is at least 5 times bigger than the next biggest house near to it.
I believe that when you build a home it should be somewhat commensurate to the other homes around it.
I have a friend that bought the biggest home in a neighborhood and then commenced to add on and make the house twice as big.
Now she will definitely never be able to sell it unless it is for a major loss.
It is at least 3 times as expensive as the next most expensive home in the neighborhood.

There are tons of homes near that are that size. Maybe not the direct neighbors but I don’t think they’d have difficulty pulling comps.

I want to like this house…I really do. But it’s schizophrenic. I’m usually a sucker for a stone-clad house and/or a turret, but the outside is French Farmhouse on steroids. It ends up looking like a themed outlet mall. While the outside is French country, the inside is an Americanized version of Le Petit Trianon. There is far too much marble and glossy surfaces and too many grand spaces. The inside is too fancy for the outside.

As Venom said, the house is also too big for the neighborhood. I’m sure that’s part of the reason such a large and detailed house on 3 acres is going for such a relatively low price. This same house in Bel Air would be at least double the price.

wow that is large. the proportions just seem like way too much to handle. too much of the house seems double storied (or at least very high ceilings)

This astonishing mansion is another proof that CA is possibly the place with the most incredible estates in the world. This wonderful mansion is located on San Juan Capistrano.Where? Not in Beverly Hills or La Jolla. It’s in a city that few Europeans citizens know its existence. And, to tell you the truth, if we omit the
old European palaces, we’ll see that Europe has to offer few estates that they are much classier than this CA mansion. In Berlin suburbs you won’t find a similar residence. In Paris you’ll find classy apartments.Only England is a bright exception.Of course, I don’t imply that Europe hasn’t significant mansions. It certainly has many significant residences to show, since it’s a continent with many rich people.I am just saying that you wont find mansions of this calibre in lesser famous and relatively small European towns, such as Seville, Southampton, Leipzig etc. You’ll find villas, but definitely not something like this CA mansion.Another small difference between two different civilizations.

Architecturally, this mansion is superb: Astounding interior, charming location
and an unbelievably beautiful and sweet interior. The price for the quality you get is a BIG STEAL.

Vulgar. If I wanted to live in a shopping mall I could find an empty one closer to the sea…in Eureka.
