This is the 2010 Designer Showhouse of New Jersey. It is located at 4 High Meadow Road in Saddle River, NJ. As in all the designer showhomes, local designers are each given a room of the home to design. I personally think that most of the rooms are hideous, especially the foyer. The “asian” theme just doesn’t fit. What do you guys think? This home is an older home and is on the market for $3,395,000. It boasts 6 bedrooms and 7.5 bathrooms. I personally loved last year’s designer showhouse which was a brand new 15,000 square foot home with an impeccable interior. The showing lasts until June 6th and has a $30 admission price.

Hey Kenny My Man………I agree with you on most of the Designer Showhouse. That’s EXACTLY what happens though, when you get a big group of interior designers together (except for the guy who did the “great” room…..there was NUTHIN’ great about that space….YUCK!) and they all do their own “thing”…..you get a circus of completely unrelated, and worse yet, unrealate-able rooms that are screamin’ at each other, with mostly NO refrence or correctness to the actually era/style/class of the house itself. Know what I mean? The “great” room looked the the designer found his furiture at a third-rate resale store, and NONE of it was correct for the space, especially that SOFA….BARF! Everything about it was wrong….wall color that didn’t speak to the natural stone around the fireplace, wrong table & floor lamps that belonged in a mid-century family room at best, not ANYwhere near enough of the right type and size of art on the walls to diminish that HIGH ceiling, etc. etc. As far your personal peeve about the foyer, you’re right….it doesn’t go with the house at all, but I’d like it in the right house….the balustrades on the dual-staircase are traditional early-American in design, with modern Asian wallpaper and chinoiserie, YIKES! And while I thought the breakfast nook was the most fun, colorful and playful room on the tour, it was like putting a birthday party for a FIVE year old in the middle of a symphony performance….totally unrelated to the rest of the house! My favorite was the study, for sure…..but the desinger shoud’ve not used ALL white furniture in there….she definitely should’ve mixed it up….there’s an infinite number of colors, materials, prints & upholstery in the world to use just ONE color for ANY room. ANY one with two brain cells between their ears to rub together & start a fire is going to HAVE to SCRUB that place completely & start from scratch to make the entire house a classy, CORRECT, and complete home wherein the rooms “agree” with each other. By that, I don’t mean make ’em all look exactly alike of course….but give ’em all their own individual personality TO A POINT……know what I mean?

haha I know!!!! I understand that the rooms are going to clash since each of them are being designed separately, but the rooms on their own are just downright hideous.

You wife and I will both be sharing tears over this house.

The only good part of this home was the white chairs in the library and the blond that designed that area.

Can we say “Horrible”???”The new decor had absolutely no sense of style, class, or sophistication whatsoever. Everything looked extremely cheap, like right out of IKEA and a thrift store. If I had to choose a favorite room, it would be the study, and I honestly didn’t think very much of it. The designers seemed set on clean, straight, lines with no grasp of imagination or elegance. I can honestly say, that the before pics of the house were MUCH better. Even though there were areas that needed to be updated, it didn’t look half as bad as it does now. AWFUL! I was very disappointed. I think the decor, will make it even more difficult to sell this property that has such great potential.
