No way is it going to sell for more than $50 million. It’s $45 million overpriced. Idiots, really. I never understood why people put the asking price so high? Make it reasonable and then you’ll sell the place. If you put it so high it just turns into a freak show and some rich will be scared off by it because then it’s been in the newsmags and they’ll have to waive their anonymity in case of a purchase. Stupid stupid stupid. I’m sure it will be a stunning house but the asking price is laughable

Keep in mind this is not a done deal. They WANT or ARE WILLING to build such a house IF someone shells out the 95 mil and builds the planned home. Could be scaled up, could be scaled down, or could never happen. I would lean toward never, at least for that area, but you never know.

$90 million for 29,000 square feet? I wonder if that is for the land or the materials? I would imagine a 29,000 square foot home with lots of pricey materials inside (real gold, expensive woods, imported marble, etc…) could get to the $30 million or higher range maybe, then throw in the land price, and you’ve got like another $30 or $40 million, but even then, it still seems over-priced!

Only way I could imagine up to $90 million is if you have a gold throne setup in the home, like Xerxes in the movie “The 300″ (remember when approaches Leonidas on that golden float, imagine making something like that out of real gold, probably would cost like $20 million alone!)

29,000 sqft is the largest in OC? What about Paul Merage’s mansion at 1 Covecrest and the spec home at 1 Pelican Hill Drive North? They both look to be right around 30,000 sqft. The homes in Pelican Hill are around 7,000-12,000 sqft, so upon visual comparison, it should easily that big.

based on those descriptions, it still seems overpriced. Portebello couldn’t sell for $20 million less than this and it sits on 3 beachfront lots. obviously there could be more features that make the price a better fit but, for now, it seems a cool $35 million overpriced.

the owner would have to be willing to say to himself “I am spending the extra $35 million strictly for the exclusive bragging right of letting everyone know I own the most expensive home in Orange County.”
