I have been obsessed with this home ever since I laid eyes on it while looking through the Rumson area in Bird’s Eye View. So, today out of nowhere I decided to search Realtor.com for homes for sale in Rumson. And what do you know?! It’s for sale!! I was so excited to see the interior. I pictured what the home would look like in my mind and then clicked on the pictures. I wasn’t blown away, but I was pleasantly surprised. Some areas are a little tacky, but it’s not over the top. The mansion, dubbed Hidden Acres, was built in 2007 and boasts 7 bedrooms and 8 bathrooms. It is located at 132 Bingham Avenue in Rumson, NJ. Situated on an impressive 5 acres, the home includes a grand foyer with double staircase, a magnificent 2-story dining room, a formal living room, a wood paneled office, a massive gourmet kitchen with 2 islands, a family room, a 2-story music room, a 2-story master closet (upper floor contains wall of shoe shelves), a wine cellar with fireplace, a home theater, a swimming pool with pool house, and a tennis court. What are your thoughts on this home?

The home is listed at a hefty $9,950,000.

And the theater, what were they thinking with the size of that screen?

lol I know. That’s the first thing I thought when I saw the dining room. You need to have a huge 15+ seat dining room table in a 2-story room like that. The room is too grand for such a small table. I guess the owners don’t have a large family.

i don’t like it. mainly because the styles don’t clash well at all. the outside is some weird colonial/roman blend that doesn’t work. same with the inside. you’ve got rooms that have tan walls/molding/ceilings mixed with dark hardwood floors and furniture. they don’t go well together at all.
the rooms are too big. look how out of place that dining room table is with the rest of the room. and that closet is obnoxious. there’s hardly any clothes in there for the size! why have a couch in a closet?? it’s stupid. are we really just gonna sit down and stare at our clothes??
i don’t mind big rooms but there are elements that big rooms should have in order to maintain a homely feel and this place is lacking them. it feels overwhelming and empty.
    3/10.

I agree with you 100%. The home has a lot of grand rooms, but has little furniture. Also, most of the furniture is ugly in my opinion. and I HATE all the tan used like you said. not my cup of tea.

not bad, i like most of it. but major proportion issues (closet, dining room, theater screen)

also one thing that drives me crazy is the plastic siding! for 10 million there shouldn’t be so much plastic siding in in the entire back of the house and especially not in the front
