This masterpiece of a home is currently the most expensive home listed in the ritzy town of Aspen, CO. The almost new 20,000+ square foot mansion was built in 2007. It was built by Silich Construction in an impressive 20 months (it usually would take around 2 years for a house that size). It is located at 2435 W Buttermilk Road. The asking price?…a whopping $60,000,000. ┬áThe mansion contains a huge great room with picturesque windows, a wine cellar, home theater, gym, as well as, extensive fireplaces, decks and terraces with fabulous panoramic views. It also contains service buildings that include a 2 bedroom caretaker’s unit and an eight stall horse stable with hay loft, tack room and extensive storage.

it’s very nice and has great views but $60,000,000 is absurd.

…and the comments come in on how overpriced it is…

Aspen, no place like it. An acre is several million alone. Once people have been there, beverly hills or any other “hills” looks like garbage.

One of the lures to Aspen is that it has an airport–very rare for a colorado mountain town. Anyone from anywhere can “fly” to their mountain home without having to deal with a city environment–God himself had a place there.

    Beautiful home!

How many acres does this home sit on? I would have to assume you’re mostly paying for the land and the views that come with it. It’s a very scenic house in every direction.

This is one of those rare super expensive mega mansions that I actually think will sell.
I don’t think it will go for less than $50 million.

It’s on a little more than forty acres. Don’t really think those acres are as valuable as those in other parts of Aspen, however, or they wouldn’t waste 40 on one house. However, it is really nice. Probably worth about 28 or 30 million. Might sell in about 3 years.

Thanks Kev, and I agree a 100%, the house is worth about half what they’re trying to sell it for.

I just read an article in The Wall Street Journal about a home that is 21,400 sq. feet on 4.5 acres and sold for $43 million. In comparison, this home is probably a good deal. Not to mention the sale was made this year, Aspen seems to be recession proof. I had no idea real estate in Aspen is so desirable.

I really hate to correct the person who said that this is the “most expensive home for sale in Aspen” cause it isnt. The most expensive home for sale in Aspen is $135 million and is owned by Prince Bandar from Saudi Arabia. It also happens to be the most expensive home for sale in the United States ever. Here is a link to the full story http://www.huffingtonpost.com/…/saudi-prince-bandar-wants_n_24877.html

That home is not on the market anymore. The home in the post, 2435 W Buttermilk Road, is currently the most expensive home on the market in Aspen right now.

Also, the most expensive home that was ever for sale in the United States was the $165 million home in Beverly Hills that was once owned by William Randolph Hearst.
