Mansion

The Australian mega mansion of mining heiress Angela Bennett has sold for a record breaking $57.5 million. The home, which is located on Saunders Street in Mosman Park (Perth), had an original asking price of $70 million. It beat the previous record of $45 million which was paid for a property in Sydney. The buyer of Mrs. Bennett’s mansion is fellow mining magnate Chris Ellison, who has a net worth of $300 million. The 7567 square metre riverside mansion is made up of three self-contained buildings and has its own cinema, gym, pool, boathouse, private jetty and tennis court.

nice house but the interior could use some work no stainless steel

Hey Kenny you should have a contest to see who has the most outlandishly decorated Christmas house. Just a thought

i like the design but both the exterior and interior seem too crammed. the rooms are tiny and the furniture/fixtures looks like they’re from the 80s.

7567 square meters?!?! That’s what about 81,000 square feet!

Beautiful property but definitely not worth that kind of money.

I agree that it looks a little plain on the inside for that price. No really grand rooms for entertaining or anything of that nature, which is what a lot of these homes are built for. As far as 81,000 sf, I can’t see anything remotely approaching that. Looking at the size of the tennis court next to the home, the house isn’t that huge. Even if it were 3 stories all the way around, or had large underground space, we’re still talking 20,000 sf per level, and there is just no way. Spelling’s house dwarfs this home and it’s “only” 52,000 sf.

The 7567sq m referred to in the description is the land, which she only paid $400,000 for in 1994 so a good investment. The property itself has a floor space of 2,500sq m so about 25,000 sq ft for those not using metric.
I live in the same suburb as this house and believe me it is enormous! To all those who don’t like Perth, don’t knock it until you try it! The richest woman in the world (Gina Rinehart) likes to call it home so it must be alright!

well, for a single family house, I think it’s Donald Trump’s Palm Beach mansion that sold for $100 million

Actually, its the Trinchera Ranch in Colorado that was bought by hedgefund financier Lois Bacon for $175 million. Then second place is the Hamptons estate of Ron Baron, for which he paid $103 million only for the land (no house included). Third place is Donald Trump’s Maison de l’Amitee. However, Ira Rennert’s house in the Hamptons is valued at around $200 million, and there are also 2 private islands in the Hamptons; Robbins Island and Gardiners Island. Robbins Island is also owned by financier Louis Bacon; Gardiners Island is owned by the Gardiners family and has never been sold. Judging by the prices of properties in the area, I’d say Robbins island is worth 500million+ and Gardiners island 1 billion.

I too agree the rooms look crammed. Almost like being on a yacht.

And Palm Beach has had some of the nation’s biggest sales (within the last 5 years):

    1) Trump mansion ($95 million)
    2) Schar Residence ($75 million + $17million for lot across street = $92 million)
    3) Thornton Residence ($77.5 million)
    4) Blossom Way House ($68.5 million)

I’m anxiously waiting for the day Sydell Miller, James Clark, and Nelson Peltz finally put their houses on the market for $120 million+ each!

Sorry Daniel but you’re wrong. The most expensive homes in the United States are either in the Hamptons or in Aspen/Colorado

Gary Winnick bought the Weber Mansion for $94 million back in 2001. That’s the highest house sale price ever recorded in Beverly Hills. But I think the most expensive sale in California was the San Ysidro Ranch in Montecito which was bought by Ty Warner. Also, I know that Bruce Kovner bought a house with multiple lots in Montecito. I don’t have exact figures on either of these but I know both were over $100 million.
