Hey guys. A loyal reader of mine has shared with me his house design along with the floorplans to it. I think he did a pretty good job! Check it out.

Here are statistics on the home he designed:

Sterling Point (all great houses have a name…this one means nothing at all, LOL)
26,000 sq ft (on 3 levels)
overall dimensions of the house are (193 ft long and 96 ft deep)
8 bedrooms (includes a complete 2 bedroom staff apartment above the garages)
10 full bathrooms and 6 1/2 baths
3 kitchens
parking for 11 cars in total (including the subterranean garage)
2 lane bowling alley
indoor racquetball court
indoor swimming pool w/hot tub
18 seat movie theatre
cigar smoking lounge
wine cellar
gym
office on the main floor (accessible thru a secret passage bookshelf door in the library)
8 fireplaces
elevator servicing all 3 floors (on main floor located off the hallway between the master bedroom and library)

Here are the floorplans:

It is a good plan, but I have to a agree with above. It is too stereotypical of many of the mansions today. There isn’t enough customization with the layout.

    Nice house, good plan.
The only things I would have changed or added would be to put a private gym off the master and add another sauna to the basement and move the basement gym over to the same side by the indoor pool and other athletic stuff.
When you work out you want to be able to just go jump in the pool not walk to the other side to do it.

I like the floor plan, but the elevation could use a little work.

i already created a full blown 3D estate on Roller Coaster Tycoon 3 that would easily cost in excess of $300 million. i listed all of the features in a Word document that i’ll send over to ya later this weekend. unfortunately i don’t know how to capture the thing on a video to upload on youtube. i know it’s possible because i’ve seen RTC videos all over youtube but i wouldn’t even know where to begin. nonetheless, the thing took me over 6 months to create and everyone who’s seen it has been blown away. it’s basically a cross between The Portebello Estate, The Playboy Mansion, Dean Gardens, and Neverland Ranch (cept children aren’t invited).

I think thats Very Impressive for an amateur, mc mansion or not, wasn’t that the brief anyway? All I would add to this is a guest suit equally as impressive as the master suit. And a staff quarters in the basement and move the laundry down there too next to the staff quarters, then the current laundry can be another social area. Well done who ever did this!

Nicely done! Should post mine also, working on a contemporary version of a famous mansion which used to stand on the east coast of the US. That house was a hundred thousand square feet, but “my place” will not be that large, not even half that size, was thinking about 30,000-40,000 square feet. Thinking about if I should post it here or not.

I have too many projects going on 😀 I am working on several floor plans for more or less grand estates, and the size is also very much different, starting from around 6,000 square foot and it goes a loooong way up to over 40,000. This is great fun.

If you´re interested, I have some really nice facade photos and floor plans of some fancy Scandinavian mansions, I could send some to you.

The “sister mansion” of Lynnewood Hall, called Whitemarsh Hall. Plans and drawings are available online for free. It will be a super-luxorious mansion, a home on a grand scale.

OK. Send me your E-mail, I´ve lost it. Had it once, but can’t find it now. And I can send you some of some homes I think are really nice. They would look good even in the US.

Also, I have a PDF, rather large one, of a grand new home in London, the house is not super-sized, but VERY grand interiors. And I have floor plans for Updown Court and some photos. and lots and lots of photos of more or less grand homes. I guess I am a little bit too much in love with real estate 😀

I’m dying to see some projects of yours. Especially the very large ones, especially facade photos and floor plans. New to this site but totally love it.
Can you forward them to me to have a look. Email address is davenport.woods@gmail.com Thanks

I love this floorplan! It’s comprehensive and fun. I agree with the suggestions of the folks above and have one to add. The Lady of the House in a mansion like this usually has an assistant (used to be called a “lady’s maid”) to attend to her personal needs and help in preparation for social events. A bathroom, dressing room and closet, including cedar closet and fur room, should be a part of her separate space in the master suite, accessible to her friends and employees who wouldn’t want to run into the master stepping out of the shower or snoozing in bed. He needs an equivalent private bath and dressing area.

Keep designing! You have talent and great ideas. Leslie
