"Villa Taj" The Midwest's Grandest Monster Mega Mansion

When you first look at Villa Taj, a house doesn’t automatically come to your mind. Also, you would never think that a monstrosity like this would be built in the midwest let alone anywhere. I stumbled across this mega-mansion on realtor.com. It is on the market for $25,000,000 and is situated on close to 5 acres of prime property at 6501 S County Road in Burr Ridge, IL.  It has 6 bedrooms and 10 bathrooms. The French inspired home contains 35,000+ square feet of ultra luxurious living space and a total of 45,000 – 50,000 square feet when counting the endless terraces. The home has a grand foyer with sweeping staircase, a grand ballroom, tremendous 30ft ceilings throughout, 2 formal living rooms, 9 fireplaces, staff quarters, dozens of entertaining spaces, a home theater, a library, a bowling alley, a 20+ car garage, and much much more.

It’s like someone took a Alabama plantation and had Saddam Hussein remodel it.

Villa Taj? How about Casa de la Crappo or La Revoltaire?

I live down the street from this house the first time I drove past it I thought it was an office building. Looks like it doesn’t belong on that lot.

I love this, whether its to anyones tast is irelevant, it is one of the most inspired homes on this site and one of the most inspired mold breaking homes in the mid west -something that needs to happen more often. Beautiful. Well done good post!

I am not quite sure how a giant square that looks the same on all sides is mold breaking…

This house is ugly. I don't care how big it is I wouldn't want to live in it.
